Just watched the latest episode of This Week in Startups with Jason Calacanis. Each week, the show features a startup entrepreneur and a segment where another entrepreneur calls in for advice from Jason and the guest.
This weeks guest was Jason Nazar, founder of DocStoc. I have always preferred Scribd, having been using it for Invest In Canada’s publications for the last month. Although with the recent launch of the Scribd Store and partnership with Simon and Shuster I have to agree with Jason Nazar’s statement that they are more focused on Books than professional documents. If I find a desktop uploader for DocStoc I would definitely consider switching over, although Scribd’s mobile interface and upcoming iPhone app may keep me from leaving.
The first couple episodes were a bit all over the place but I like where it is going. ‘Ask Jason’ is by far the most interesting part of the show. Jason has a lot of experience starting and running startups, and has a lot of insight to offer entrepreurs. I am actually planning on using part of Jason’s advice from the previous episode for the basis of my final report and presentation for the course I am taking this summer.
If you are thinking about starting your own company or interested in business in general, I’d recommend checking out This Week in Startups.
